How to mix Quantum® SPS Macro Probiotic Salt™
Step (1) – Choose your Specific Gravity (S.G)
Using the table down below; choose the specific gravity that you would like to run your SPS reef aquarium at. Pay extra careful attention to the Calcium, Alkalinity, Magnesium & Potassium levels that correspond to your chosen specific gravity as you will need to maintain those parameters using our Step 3 – Aragonite Enhancers™ and Step 4 – Bioactive Colour Intensifiers™
*allow a +/- of 5% in the values present in the table
Step (2) – Determine the amount of salt you need
Using the easy dosing table (above) determine how much salt you need for your water change. We recommend 10-20% weekly water changes using our salt.
Example calculation:
200L aquarium @ 1.025 S.G – 10% water change.
10/100 = 0.1
0.1 x 200L = 20L
34.6g/L x 20L = 692g of salt you need to add to 20L of RODI water
Step (3) – It is time to mix
Add the salt to ~25˚C water RODI water and mix (preferably with an aquarium pump) until it is fully dissolved. Once fully dissolved; stop mixing. Check the temperature of the mixed salt, once it has been stabilised to 25˚C you can now add it into your aquarium.
Always add salt to water; never vice versa. Never add unmixed salt to an aquarium.
Caution:
Keep out of reach of children. May cause skin irritation. In case of contact with eyes, or swallowed seek medical advice immediately.
Step (4) – Keep the salt fresh for the next time you use it
Use the elastic band or reusable cable tie to seal the bag inside the bucket then firmly close the lid. If you are using our top up 20kg box we recommend placing the sealed bag into our 22kg bucket and firmly closing the lid.
