PCS Ammonia Dosing Solution
Introducing ammonia at the onset of the nitrogen cycle allows corals and other organisms to utilize it as a primary nutrient source to fulfill their daily nitrogen requirements before it converts into nitrates.
Administering the ammonia dosing solution via a dosing pump for even distribution is prefered, although adding it to the automatic top-off (ATO) reservoir is also viable since precise daily dosing isn't necessary. At a rate of 1 ml per 100 liters, the addition will increase ammonia levels by 0.1 ppm, equivalent to a nitrate increase of 0.36 ppm.
It's advisable to introduce the solution into the sump only to ensure thorough dillution before reaching the main tank. Dosing the ammonia dosing solution downstream of any media used for nitrate reduction is recommended.
Start by dosing 1 ml per 100 liters initally. Then test the nitrate levels and increase the dose by 1 ml per 100 liters every 3 days until you achieve the desired nitrate level.
