Nyos Floating Fish Trap

Catching fish has never been easier

The Nyos Floating Fish Trap makes catching a fish in a stocked aquarium quick, safe and stress-free, with no rockwork to pull apart and no chasing with a net.

How it works

Traditional traps need a line to trigger the door. The Nyos trap has no line: once your fish is inside, you release the magnetic connection. An air chamber at the opening flips the trap 90 degrees and floats it, with the fish inside, to the surface.

Key features

• Cordless, magnetic release: nothing to trip or snag
• Magnetic holder mounts it anywhere on the glass
• Sits near the surface so you can bait it with the included pipette
• Round, clear design that fish get used to quickly

Tips for success

• Give your fish time to get used to the trap, and feed only through it while they do
• For algae grazers, clip a sheet of nori inside with the included magnet
• Use the pipette to keep food moving; many fish respond to moving food
• With small, fast fish, wait until the fish is fully inside before releasing
• Don't use it to catch several large fish at once
• For shy fish, tie a string to the magnetic holder so you can release it from a distance
• Turn off the flow if needed so the food stays in the trap
